My Story

To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see HERE Age: 4 months Weight: 14 pounds This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Value Affirmation is an affectionate and intelligent mixed breed puppy who currently weighs fourteen pounds. Her nickname is Val. She and her four littermates (who are also available for adoption) are supposedly a a combination of German Shepherd, Great Dane, Doberman, and a registered Catahoula Leopard Dog. However, Val is still quite small at four months old, so we find that particular mix unlikely. Either way, she is a friendly and beautiful puppy with very funky markings! Val and her littermates have been kenneled and separated from home life since early October 2023. Her foster family includes a man, a woman, older children, small and large dogs, and cats, and although she is not fully integrated into the house, she has been friendly and sweet to everyone she has met. Very few people other than the core family ever come into the house. Val and her siblings enjoy playing together inside their kennels or in a small yard. She enjoys toys, and likes to engage in a game of tug-of-war or fetch. Val and her littermates suffered from a bout of parvo, but they have fully recovered since then. Val is a typical puppy who is both playful and responsive to corrections. She has been described as a perfect house guest, and loves to spend time on your lap. She has been quiet and clean in her crate or kennel for up to six hours, but her house and leash training have not begun yet. We strongly recommend that all of our dogs, especially puppies, attend obedience classes because you get to learn commands together, and it can build confidence and socialization for the dog. It's also fun! It oftens takes a lot of time, energy, and patience to bring up a puppy--and it's absolutely worth it. Val is a mild mannered and intelligent puppy. We think she will be an absolute joy to raise, and that she will be a wonderful addition to any home! Medical Note: Val is a parvo survivor, and she is still gaining weight. Her last symptoms were on 12/6/2023, and we are so happy that she is okay now! An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see HERE for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website: www.sosarl.org/aa/ * *Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
