My Story

Wally was adopted 6 months ago and it was going so well, they love him and he loves them. He especially loves it when the grandson comes to visit. Due to a terminal medical diagnosis for the adopter, Wally needs a new home or foster home ASAP. Wally is a friendly and very sweet boy with a great temperament who loves meeting people while out on walks. He has a curious, playful demeanor and youthful appearance (shiny black coat, little body fat) that makes him seem younger than his estimated age. For a middle-aged dog, he hasn't shown any signs of slowing down so should have a lot of miles in the tank and many good years still ahead of him. This handsome boy is also well-behaved and well-adjusted. Wally is house-trained, doesn't chew on anything he's not supposed to, and is well behaved when left inside by himself. Wally is good-natured and low-maintenance. He's happy just lounging around with his human(s) or going on leisurely neighborhood walks (with the occasional game of tug-of-war or fetch). He's also confident and calm (doesn't get spooked easily). He doesn't show any reaction to any noises on the city streets, including skateboards, barking dogs, sirens, random yelling, or loud construction/yardwork noises. At home, he rarely barks, despite living in a somewhat noisy city apartment with lots of noises from neighbors, delivery drivers, unruly kids, honking, etc. Wally would be happiest as a solo pet or possibly with a similarly-sized or larger dog(s) with the right chemistry. While on walks he's mostly curious and eager to meet other dogs, but his doggie manners are somewhat lacking, which can lead to sparks, and he can be reactive towards some dogs while on leash. You can see his Google album here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/zwT1YuhaSBDJaXjY8 Wally is in good health, aside from some arthritis (slight limp which is mostly noticeable when he's tired or walking slowly). If you are interested in fostering, adopting or just meeting Wally, please complete our online adoption application at https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/adoption-process/ or if you are interested in fostering please fill out our foster application at https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/foster-a-rescue-dog/ . One of our volunteers will get back to you. Adoptions are local, confined to the Northern California. 1/3/24 3:12 PM
