My Story

Dog name: Wilma Gender: Female Age/Weight: 2 yrs / 52 lbs (however seems younger to me - more like 1 year or slightly under) Breed: Labrador Retriever mix Heartworm status: Negative Medications/Injuries: n/a Good with people? Yes, loves everyone and is very excited & happy to meet new people (licks a lot!) Children? Good, better for older kids since she can knock over toddlers and is excitable at times. Dogs? Loves dogs! And they like her too, (even grumpy ones like Wilma because she is very friendly and non-reactive / submissive to other dogs) Cats? Not sure Other animals? Not sure House trained? Yes Crate trained? She only likes certain crates in certain rooms, doesn’t want to be crated by herself in a room alone. She sleeps fine at night in the crate in a bedroom with a human. Energy level: To be expected of a young dog. She runs wild in the yard but is decently calm inside most of the time. Travel well? She is nervous and whines at times, needs more practice being in a car. Favorite toy/activity: She loves to run in the yard and play with toys. Leash trained? Seems ok but likes to run loose in the yard instead. Fence needed? Yes Overall, Wilma is a sweet girl. She will need some time and patience to feel comfortable and settle in, which of course is expected. She has anxiety if left alone so I would advise crating her until trust is gained. She craves love and affection and loves everyone she meets. She licks a lot (gives kisses) but not slobbery ones and she has good breath. She knows sit and listens to redirection. She would be a good companion for someone who is at home a lot (retired or working from home, stay at home mom/dad etc.). She likes other dogs but I don’t think she necessarily needs another dog if the person plays with her and entertains her. Would be perfect as a second dog to a playful dog so she can get her energy out, or even as a running partner, with the right leash training. Settles down after she has exercise outside and is mostly out of the puppy chewing phase (she did steal some socks but gave them right back when asked).
