Zeus - ABN, fee waived Pit Bull Terrier Mix Shelbyville, IN

One-hundred and twenty-two days ago Zeus came into our lives. He was on the struggle bus as he lived in a home where English wasn't their main language. The owner had a newborn and no longer could care for her dog. She stated he was not good with other dogs, not good with cats, not good with kids....that information combined with him charging at the fence baring all his teeth was worrisome. We would try to talk to him and call him by name but he wouldn't respond. We don't give up, nor do our volunteers! He also had extremely long nails that we knew hurt him, but we were unable to touch him. At the age of five and a half, we knew it would take time as his life had just turned upside down. Thankfully he was neutered and housebroken, two pluses, and that Kristin took him under her wing, a HUGE plus. She would boost his confidence as he was afraid to exit his kennel, and she would leave tasty morsels of food for him to follow so that he could experience outside. This has been a project that she took quite seriously. Soon she would lead him into the office so he could hang out with his shelter people and learn to trust us too. Zeus no longer charges at the kennel, showing his pearly whites. He plods along on the leash and loves to smell everything. If you are looking for a dog that is a couch potato (Kristin's nickname is Tug Boat) and a dog that you can just love on while giving belly rubs (he loves those) then Zeus in the one. Yesterday Emily took lovely pictures of him, in hopes that he is someone dream pet. He is an easy maintenance companion that would probably be happier as the only pet (based on his previous owner). We know Zeus will find that special someone, he is stressed, lived with someone that didn't speak English so his adapting to us, our schedule and new faces has been hard.
